TCF POST Report

H&M Atelier has unveiled its Autumn/Winter 2026 menswear collection, combining exaggerated tailoring, ’90s minimalism and utilitarian influences in a wardrobe built around proportion, texture and restraint.

The collection was presented at H&M’s runway show during London Fashion Week on September 17 and was made available online immediately after the show, followed by a selective store rollout from September 18.

Designed around cinematic references spanning 1980s and 1990s fashion, contemporary art and 1990s Japanese action films, A/W26 moves between archival menswear and modern utility. H&M Atelier Design Lead Ana Hernández said the collection was intended to place structured tailoring and softer, more tactile elements side by side.

Tailoring drives the silhouette

The collection introduces a more directional silhouette through sculpted shoulders, elongated cuts and exaggerated proportions. Late-1990s-inspired three-button, single-breasted blazers are paired with either tapered straight-leg trousers or looser trousers that gather around the ankles.

Derbies and loafers anchor the tailoring, while outerwear expands the collection into utility and minimalist territory. Bonded-leather coats, blazers and trousers sit alongside blouson and flight jackets, while ombré stripes, shadow checks and textured knits add retro references.

A studded belt buckle serves as a recurring styling element across the collection.

Materials become a key differentiator

Materiality is central to the A/W26 offer, with cashmere, wool and dry-feel cotton jersey providing softness and texture. Workwear-inspired fabrics including crinkled nylon and nylon twill bring a functional edge, while dry wool is used in heavier knitwear.

Denim is updated through seasonal washes, while the tailored offer includes wool blends in pinstripe and herringbone. Viscose and nylon twill add a more polished finish to selected pieces.

The colour palette follows the collection’s cinematic mood, led by black, dark brown and steel grey, with burnt red and muted orange providing contrast.

From runway to retail

The immediate online release following the London Fashion Week presentation reflects H&M Atelier’s positioning as a fashion-led menswear proposition rather than a conventional seasonal retail launch.

Launched in 2024, H&M Atelier is H&M’s capsule menswear line aimed at contemporary, fashion-conscious consumers. Its collections focus on wardrobe staples distinguished by materials, texture and a more refined aesthetic.

For A/W26, the combination of archival tailoring, utility references and tactile materials gives the line a wardrobe proposition that connects retro menswear codes with contemporary proportions.
