The move gives Under Armour’s plant-based fashion venture a larger consumer platform while positioning UNLESS as a testing ground for lower-plastic materials across performance apparel and footwear.

Under Armour has moved the full UNLESS Collective brand to UA.com, expanding the consumer reach of its plant-based, regenerative fashion venture and strengthening its role as an innovation platform within the sportswear company.
UNLESS describes itself as the world’s first plant-based, regenerative fashion brand. Since joining Under Armour in 2024, the business has operated as a “proving ground” for plant-based materials, testing their performance in finished products and exploring solutions that could eventually influence Under Armour’s wider product portfolio.
The integration means shoppers can now access the full UNLESS assortment of apparel and footwear through UA.com, giving the concept a broader commercial platform while allowing Under Armour to showcase its work on alternatives to plastic-based materials.
For the textile, clothing and footwear sector, the significance extends beyond distribution. Under Armour says UNLESS is being used to investigate how performance, design and plant-based materials can be combined without compromising the expectations associated with athletic products.
The company frames the development around a central materials challenge for performance apparel: finding substitutes for plastic without sacrificing performance. Under Armour also acknowledges that there will not be a single solution, with UNLESS serving as a platform to develop and test different plant-based approaches in real products.
Tara Moss, co-founder of UNLESS and senior lead of marketing at Under Armour, said the brand was created to challenge the status quo and that Under Armour had provided the scale to take the concept further. The move to UA.com, she said, provides an even larger platform for consumers to experience the products and for the company to develop the brand.
The commercial integration also places UNLESS closer to Under Armour’s mainstream consumer ecosystem. Rather than operating solely as a niche materials or sustainability experiment, its apparel and footwear are now being presented directly alongside the broader Under Armour digital offering.
The strategy reflects a wider industry challenge: translating material innovation from experimental development into products that consumers will actually wear, buy and use repeatedly. Under Armour says UNLESS is focused on plant-based products designed to perform, fit naturally into everyday wardrobes and become repeat-use products.
For material suppliers, apparel manufacturers and footwear businesses, the development highlights the growing importance of scalable material innovation—where alternative fibres and materials are not only developed for environmental credentials but are also tested for performance, design, commercial appeal and integration into established brand portfolios.
