TCF POST Report

MALMÖ, Sweden — September 30 — Swedish rug specialist Rugvista has launched Woven Stories, a new collection that combines traditional textile influences with contemporary design and a strong emphasis on materiality and craftsmanship.

Developed by Rugvista’s design team in Malmö, the collection features 14 designs in 21 colour variations. The designs draw inspiration from historical textiles, aged surfaces and traditional craft expressions, translated into rugs intended for contemporary interiors.

The collection includes designs such as Fresco, Karima, Fragments and Reva, each using pattern, colour and surface texture to create a distinct visual character. Fresco, for example, combines loop and cut pile to introduce variation across the rug’s surface, adding a tactile dimension to the design.

Wool is the primary material used across the collection, while selected designs combine wool with viscose. The use of different fibres and pile constructions forms an important part of the collection’s approach to texture and surface definition.

According to Rugvista, the designs reinterpret historical influences rather than directly reproducing traditional motifs. Irregular detailing, muted and faded colour effects, and varied textures are used to give the rugs a sense of depth and character.

The company has also documented elements of the production process in India, highlighting the materials, techniques and specialist skills involved in manufacturing the collection. The production story forms part of Rugvista’s wider launch presentation for Woven Stories.

Matilda Lundgren, Chief Design Officer at Rugvista, said the collection explores the visual traces created by time, materials and craftsmanship, translating these characteristics into contemporary rug designs.

Woven Stories became available through Rugvista’s online platform on September 30, 2026.
