Paris, September 30, 2026 — E Ink has partnered with Japanese fashion house ANREALAGE to introduce garments featuring electronically controlled color-changing surfaces at Paris Fashion Week, highlighting the growing intersection of textile craftsmanship, digital materials and fashion technology.
ANREALAGE incorporated E Ink Prism™ 3 into six dresses from its Spring/Summer 2027 “SKIN” collection, presented in Paris on September 29. Each garment uses approximately 1,000 to 2,000 individual E Ink Prism elements, arranged in a scale-like structure across the fabric.
The technology enables sections of the garments to alter their visual appearance, allowing a single dress to produce multiple looks. Rather than relying solely on changes in silhouette or construction, the collaboration uses dynamic material surfaces to introduce color and pattern as an additional design element.
For the textile and apparel industry, the development represents an application of ePaper technology beyond conventional display products. E Ink Prism is a reflective, bistable material technology that uses ambient light to produce visible colors and patterns. Because power is required primarily when the visual state changes, the technology can maintain an image without continuous power consumption.
The collaboration is led by ANREALAGE founder and designer Kunihiko Morinaga, whose work frequently combines fashion, technology and experimental materials. E Ink said the partnership is intended to explore how traditionally static surfaces can become dynamic and responsive design components.
The companies also highlighted the potential for material technology to increase the design possibilities of individual garments. By allowing a single piece to shift between different visual configurations, the approach could enable designers to create more variations without producing entirely separate garments. E Ink described this as a way to expand the creative possibilities of individual pieces.
Following the Paris Fashion Week presentation, selected garments will be shown at the “JUST AN REAL AGE” exhibition in Paris from October 2–5, 2026. E Ink also plans to showcase the garments at selected industry events in 2027, including COMPUTEX and InfoComm.
E Ink's broader portfolio of dynamic materials targets applications including automotive surfaces, accessories, handbags and other products where programmable color and patterns can be integrated into physical surfaces.
