New carbon-plated flagship extends Skechers’ technical running portfolio from daily training to elite-level racing and into a ‘super shoe’ era

LOS ANGELES — Skechers has entered the high-performance “super shoe” segment with the global launch of the Skechers AERO Elite, its first racing shoe designed specifically for competition from 5K races through marathons.

The new model marks a further push by Skechers to strengthen its position in technical running footwear, combining a lightweight construction with carbon-infused propulsion technology while retaining the comfort positioning associated with the brand.

The AERO Elite weighs 5.9 ounces (167g) in a men’s size 9 and 5.0 ounces (142g) in a women’s size 7, with a 40mm–36mm stack height and 4mm offset.

At its core is Skechers’ Hyper Burst Pro™ supercritical foam in the sockliner and midsole, designed to provide cushioning and responsiveness. The shoe also features a full-length Quantum Plate™, a carbon-infused plate engineered to enhance energy return and forward propulsion. Skechers says the curved, spoon-shaped plate uses a design inspired by the Voronoi principle, combining structural support with reduced material.

The footwear incorporates Hyper Arc® Technology, Skechers’ proprietary transition geometry intended to promote stride efficiency, while a breathable woven jacquard upper, Performance FitKnit® tongue and sawtooth laces provide what the company describes as a secure fit.

A Lite Grip™ TPU outsole is designed to deliver traction and durability without adding significant weight, while reflective detailing around the laces increases visibility for low-light running.

“The Skechers AERO Elite is the culmination of years of elite-level running innovation—our most technically advanced running shoe to date,” said Catherine Zou, senior director of Product Development at Skechers. She described the launch as part of the company’s ambitions looking toward the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, adding that the shoe combines Skechers’ comfort proposition with performance capabilities for high-level competition.

The launch is also being supported by an expanded elite-athlete strategy. Skechers recently added middle- and long-distance runner Shelby Houlihan, a 14-time US National Champion and American 1500m record holder, to its performance roster. She has been training in AERO Series footwear ahead of the 2027 racing season.

The AERO Elite sits at the top of a broader AERO running architecture covering different stages of a runner’s training cycle. AERO Burst® targets everyday and longer-distance running with softer cushioning, AERO Spark™ focuses on daily training, and AERO Razor is positioned for tempo runs and faster workouts. Selected models also incorporate Skechers’ Hands Free Slip-ins® technology.

Beyond running, Skechers said it is continuing to expand its performance footwear offering across basketball, soccer, golf, pickleball/padel and cricket, indicating a broader strategy of building its technical sports business alongside its lifestyle footwear operations.

The AERO Elite and wider AERO Series are available through Skechers retail stores, skechers.com and specialty athletic retailers across North America, Europe and other key global markets. Skechers operates in approximately 180 countries and territories and has more than 5,300 retail stores worldwide.
