TCF POST Report
ESCHWEILER, Germany, Oct. 2, 2026: Barnet Europe, the fiber and yarn producer, recycler and trader, now has a new European headquarters in Eschweiler. The building was finished on schedule, about eleven months after groundbreaking.
The site brings together operations that were previously spread across several locations. Managing Director Bernd Lenzen said the move merges Barnet's Aachen site with the Raeren site of an affiliate. He described the relocation as a strategic step to strengthen the company economically, and said Eschweiler offers room for growth and innovation.
The facility
The campus covers about 23,000 sqm of production, warehouse and office space on a site of roughly 41,400 sqm. It has two industrial buildings and a two-storey office extension at the front. It was built to Barnet's specifications as a built-to-suit project.
◆ Logistics space: about 19,400 sqm
◆ Offices and social areas: about 1,800 sqm
◆ Warehouse mezzanine: about 1,700 sqm
◆ Clear internal height: 10 m
◆ Car parking: 73 spaces
Sustainability and workplace design
The complex was built to DGNB Platinum standard. It has photovoltaic systems, heat pump technology and intelligent building controls to save energy. It also includes biodiversity measures and EV charging for cars and bicycles.
The offices use an open-plan layout with glass partitions, built-in sound insulation and a modern color scheme. The design aims to encourage collaboration between departments.
The project team
Barnet is the user. BGO is the investor and owner, and PRODAC is the developer. Goldbeck was the general contractor, and Modevconsult handled technical project management. PRODAC Managing Director Lars Zimmermann credited the on-time delivery to close partnership among these parties and thanked the City of Eschweiler.
Local impact
Eschweiler Mayor Patrick Nowicki called the handover on Graf-Zeppelin-Straße a milestone for the city as a business location. He said it supports the ongoing structural change in the Rhenish mining area and will create jobs. BGO's Jürgen Diehl said the project reflects the firm's aim to develop modern property at established locations with strong partners.
