TCF POST Report
Drammen, Norway & Ylöjärvi, Finland, 3 November 2026 -Norwegian wool specialist Aclima has acquired Sukkamestarit Oy, Finland’s largest sock manufacturer. The deal adds specialist sock development and production to Aclima’s base-layer and mid-layer range, along with another factory in the Nordic region.
Aclima has bought the entire share capital of Sukkamestarit. Both companies supply outdoor and defence customers, where quality and performance are critical. Aclima plans to develop the Ylöjärvi site into a centre of excellence for sock development and production, and to use it as the base for a much larger sock collection.
Production stays in Finland
Sukkamestarit will keep operating under its own name and brands. Production, product development, marketing and domestic sales will remain in Ylöjärvi. The companies aim to raise output from the current 1.8 million pairs a year to 3 million pairs over the next 5–8 years, which they say should create room for new investment and jobs.
Sukkamestarit’s owners had been looking for a strategic partner to speed up growth and internationalisation. The company, founded in 1996, has grown from a traditional sock mill into an international maker of technical specialist socks. It has recently invested in modernising production, expanding capacity and exporting. One example of its standing is an order of 750,000 pairs from the Danish Defence in spring 2025.
“Sukkamestarit is a strong strategic fit for Aclima. Its specialist expertise and manufacturing capabilities complement our collections and the production platform we have developed over many years,” said Aclima CEO Christian Lodgaard. “Together, we can build a substantially stronger sock offering while reinforcing our Nordic manufacturing base and our position among outdoor and professional users.”
Sukkamestarit CEO Jussi Koskinen said the company had more growth opportunities than its own resources could support. “With Aclima, we get stronger shoulders for the next stage of growth,” he said. “This deal is not about moving production out of Finland, but about developing and growing it in Ylöjärvi.”
He added that the two companies share a commitment to quality, performance, sustainability and specialist manufacturing. Aclima’s export channels and brand recognition, combined with Sukkamestarit’s sock expertise, create “significant opportunities to grow and develop together.”
Combined business
The combined business will have annual revenue of about €50 million (NOK 517 million) and 186 employees.
