Footwear Giant Genesco Appoints Former Walmart Executive Jonathan Collins as CFO

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Genesco Inc. (NYSE: GCO) announced the appointment of Jonathan Collins as Senior Vice President, Finance, and CFO, effective August 3, 2026. This selection concludes a comprehensive search process to replace the interim financial leadership held by Board Chair, President, and CEO Mimi E. Vaughn since March 2026. Collins will report directly to Vaughn.

Collins brings more than 30 years of senior financial experience to the role. He spent over a decade with Walmart from 2012 to 2025, serving in key executive positions, including Chief Financial Officer of Walmart Africa, Chief Accounting Officer of the Flipkart Group, and Chief Accounting Officer of Walmart Canada. Most recently, he served as Chief Financial Officer of America’s Car-Mart, Inc., where he directed initiatives to strengthen the company’s capital structure and enhance financial operations.

Founded in 1924 and based in Nashville, Genesco Inc. is a footwear-focused company operating more than 1,200 retail stores and branded e-commerce websites. Its portfolio includes brands such as Johnston & Murphy, Journeys, Journeys Kidz, Little Burgundy, and Schuh, which cater to a diverse range of customers, from teens and young adults to affluent men and women. Additionally, the company’s Genesco Brands Group sells lifestyle footwear under licensed brands including Wrangler, Dockers, and Starter.

On the appointment of the company’s new CFO, Genesco CEO Vaughn said, “His broad experience across consumer-facing, large-scale, retail, and e-commerce businesses, combined with his strategic financial acumen, makes him an outstanding addition to our leadership team as we continue executing our ‘Footwear First’ strategy and creating shareholder value.”

A Certified Public Accountant, Collins previously worked as a partner with KPMG, where he led global strategic advisory engagements across the U.S., China, and Australia. He holds an MBA and a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Illinois.
