TCF POST Report
TOKYO, Aug. 8, 2026 — Japanese textile company Yagi & Co., Ltd. is taking its proprietary LAVATECH® functional textile technology into the growing pet-wellness market, presenting its FUJILOOM® collection for the second time at SUPERZOO in the United States, one of North America’s largest pet-product marketplaces.
LAVATECH is made by finely crushing high-quality underground lava rock associated with Mt. Fuji and incorporating the material into fibres through a specialised weaving process. Yagi says the technology provides far-infrared properties, opening applications in products designed around wellness, sleep, beauty and sports. For FUJILOOM, the technology is used in blankets and mats aimed at supporting pet comfort, restful sleep and everyday well-being.
Developed by Yagi from more than 130 years of textile expertise, FUJILOOM combines the company’s functional-material technology with soft, breathable textile products designed for pets. The collection is positioned around natural functionality, Japanese craftsmanship and wellness, extending Yagi’s textile capabilities beyond conventional apparel and lifestyle applications.
The move reflects Yagi’s broader strategy of developing higher-value functional materials and expanding their global applications. Rather than limiting proprietary textile technologies to clothing, the company is exploring new consumer categories where material performance and wellness attributes can provide product differentiation.
Yagi’s participation at SUPERZOO for a second time also highlights its efforts to establish FUJILOOM in the international pet-products market. The US exhibition provides an opportunity to reach retailers, distributors and other industry buyers as the company works to expand sales channels and strengthen awareness of the brand.
Founded in 1893, Yagi operates across textiles, apparel, lifestyle goods and international brands. The company reports global revenue of approximately ¥85.9 billion and is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The development of FUJILOOM forms part of Yagi’s stated plans to develop new functional materials, expand global sales and strengthen its wellness business. The company also links the initiative to its wider ESG strategy and its ambition to develop businesses through collaboration with customers and other stakeholders.
For the textile industry, Yagi’s move illustrates the growing commercial potential of functional fibre technologies outside traditional apparel markets. By applying material innovation to pet care, the Japanese company is seeking to create new revenue opportunities from technology developed through its long-established textile expertise.
