MUNICH/ASCHHEIM, Germany — OLYMP, Germany’s largest shirt manufacturer, has implemented 3D design and simulation software from Style3D | ASSYST across its product development pipeline, the companies said Tuesday, in a move aimed at shortening design cycles and reducing reliance on physical sample garments.
The family-owned company, based in Bietigheim-Bissingen, said the software is now used from initial concept through to point-of-sale, allowing designers to build production-ready collections directly in three dimensions rather than relying solely on traditional physical prototyping.
“Style3D | ASSYST impresses with its innovative technology,” said Thomas Graupner, OLYMP’s director of IT, organisation and project management. “The seamless integration of 3D/2D design in the entire development process provides us significant efficiency gains in collection development.”
Company Background
Founded in 1951, OLYMP has grown from a regional men’s shirt maker into what the company describes as Germany’s market leader in shirts and one of Europe’s leading shirt brands, with sales in more than 40 countries. Still under family ownership, the company has expanded its product range beyond shirts to include knitwear, T-shirts and accessories, positioning itself increasingly as a broader lifestyle label while retaining shirts as its core business. Actor Matthew McConaughey serves as the brand’s global ambassador.
Details of the Rollout
According to the companies, OLYMP’s adoption of the platform combines pattern design, garment simulation and visualization into a single workflow spanning concept development to final product presentation. The stated aim is to increase realism in digital renderings, shorten development timelines and improve communication between design, merchandising and production teams.
As part of the shift, OLYMP has changed how it presents collections to wholesale buyers. The company now uses a combination of a limited number of physical salesman samples (SMS) alongside a broader set of digital product images, distributed through its OLYMP Digital Showroom.
Executives at OLYMP said the approach is intended to help the company respond more quickly to shifts in demand, lower the cost and volume of physical sampling, and improve the quality of digital assets used across sales channels.
Objectives cited by OLYMP:
- Reducing the number of physical samples produced per collection
- Shortening development timelines to keep pace with fashion trends
- Improving communication across the supply chain
- Ensuring consistent fit accuracy across global markets
- Expanding multi-channel sales through digital assets
- Strengthening brand visibility through digital product visualization
