Egypt’s Jan–Apr garment exports boosted by Europe

TCF POST Report

Egypt’s ready-made garment exports surged by 15 percent year-on-year to reach USD 1.15 billion (EGP 59.8 billion) during the first four months of 2026, up from USD 1 billion (EGP 52.1 billion) in the same period last year, according to the Apparel Export Council of Egypt (AEC).

The sector recorded its strongest monthly performance of the year in April, with export values rising 33 percent year-on-year.

The council reported on Monday that shipments to Europe drove a significant portion of this growth, climbing 29 percent to USD 512 million (EGP 26.7 billion) between January and April.

Despite Europe’s rapid growth, the United States maintained its position as the primary destination for Egyptian apparel. Exports to the US rose by 13 percent year-on-year, totaling USD 429 million (EGP 22.4 billion) for the four months.

Strategic Outlook

AEC Chairperson Fadel Marzouk attributed this upward trajectory to the shifting global market dynamics and the strengthening appeal of local manufacturing.

“The growth reflects rising demand for ‘Made in Egypt’ garments due to the strengthening competitiveness of Egyptian products in international markets,” Marzouk said. “We aim to expand Egypt’s presence in key markets, particularly in Europe and North America, while also exploring new opportunities across Africa.”

The AEC has established a total export target of approximately USD 4.4 billion (EGP 229.2 billion) for the full calendar year of 2026.
