SAN FRANCISCO — DoorDash is expanding its retail offering ahead of the back-to-school shopping season, adding Barnes & Noble, Carter’s and Kohl’s to its Marketplace as it targets families seeking faster access to apparel, books, school supplies and everyday essentials.
The three retailers broaden DoorDash’s reach across key back-to-school categories, allowing consumers to order products from local stores for delivery, in some cases within an hour. The move comes as parents and students prepare for a busy fall season marked by school schedules, sports practices and last-minute purchases.
With more than 500,000 products eligible for delivery in under an hour across categories including apparel, books, baby and kids, and household goods, DoorDash is positioning its Marketplace as an increasingly important channel for everyday retail purchases.
Barnes & Noble represents DoorDash’s first large-scale books offering. Customers can order required reading, reference books, study guides, workbooks, notebooks, planners and stationery, alongside toys, games, gifts, movies and music from participating local stores.
Carter’s adds DoorDash’s largest kids’ apparel and essentials assortment, covering school clothing and everyday children’s products. The offering is designed to address last-minute needs ranging from replacement outfits to school and daycare essentials.
Kohl’s brings DoorDash into department-store retail at scale, with products available from more than 1,100 stores nationwide. Its assortment spans first-day outfits, sneakers and other apparel as well as dorm-room and home essentials.
“Bringing Barnes & Noble, Carter’s, and Kohl’s onto DoorDash means parents can get what they need in minutes instead of making another stop,” said Mike Goldblatt, Vice President of Enterprise Partnerships at DoorDash. “For our retail partners, it means getting in front of consumers exactly when they need them most.”
The expansion builds on DoorDash’s growing penetration of U.S. convenience and retail delivery. In the first quarter of 2026, the platform said fast third-party convenience delivery was available to more than 60% of the U.S. population, with a median delivery time of 30 minutes or less.
DoorDash also fulfilled tens of millions of grocery and retail deliveries in under 30 minutes across more than 22,000 ZIP codes during the quarter.
The latest partnerships highlight a broader shift in retail toward on-demand fulfillment, particularly for time-sensitive purchases. For back-to-school shoppers, the ability to obtain clothing, footwear, books and school supplies without an additional store trip could make convenience a decisive part of the shopping journey.
For DoorDash, meanwhile, the addition of three major national retailers strengthens its push beyond restaurant delivery and further establishes its Marketplace as a platform for same-day and immediate retail needs.
