TCF POST Report

TORONTO — Roots is giving its Canadian outdoor heritage a contemporary update for Fall 2026, combining its signature comfort and craftsmanship with technical performance, collegiate-inspired styling and more versatile silhouettes aimed at today’s city-to-outdoors lifestyle. The new collection spans Cloud, Original, Roam, Horizon and Activewear, alongside the debut of Roots Beavermark, a collegiate-inspired line designed around back-to-school dressing and campus culture. Seasonal colour updates and refreshed proportions bring a more modern edge to the brand’s established design language.

Performance Meets Everyday Wear

Roots is placing greater emphasis on technical functionality this season through Activewear, Horizon and Roam. Activewear features recycled, breathable and quick-drying fabrics with moisture-wicking capabilities and UPF protection, positioning the range for consumers seeking performance without a distinctly technical look. Horizon extends the brand’s outdoor proposition with lightweight woven fabrics, water repellency, stretch and sun protection. The range is designed to bridge urban activity and outdoor use, from city walks to hiking trails. For travel and everyday movement, Roam focuses on wrinkle-resistant fabrics designed to retain their shape. Selected styles also feature stain resistance and moisture-wicking properties, reinforcing the collection’s emphasis on easy-care versatility.

Roots Refreshes Its Comfort Icons

The Fall collection also updates two of Roots’ most recognisable propositions. Original continues to draw on the brand’s relaxed Canadian aesthetic, combining signature beaver graphics with updated silhouettes. Cloud, meanwhile, returns in a premium organic cotton-blend fleece, with new seasonal colours adding freshness to one of the brand’s established comfort categories. The approach reflects a broader shift at Roots toward evolving familiar products rather than abandoning the heritage codes that underpin the brand.

A New Collegiate Chapter

One of the most notable additions is Roots Beavermark, which introduces a cleaner, more city-oriented interpretation of collegiate dressing. Inspired by varsity apparel and campus culture, the collection combines relaxed comfort with a more refined athletic aesthetic. A new embroidered beaver patch serves as the central branding element, offering a subtler alternative to Roots’ more familiar graphic treatments. The Fall 2026 lifestyle assortment further expands the wardrobe with knitwear, outerwear and accessories designed for layering and year-round use.

Leather Heritage, Reworked

Roots is also bringing its longstanding leather expertise into the new season through updated silhouettes and richer seasonal colours. The Fall 2026 assortment includes suede versions of the Riley Crossbody and Margo Satchel, alongside the suede and Cervino Jacq Shoulder Bag. The designs retain the craftsmanship associated with Roots while giving the leather category a more contemporary fashion direction.

Building a Global Canadian Lifestyle Brand

The Fall launch comes as Roots continues to balance its Canadian heritage with an increasingly international footprint. Founded in 1973, Roots has more than 100 corporate stores in Canada and two stores in the United States, supported by its e-commerce business serving international markets. The brand also has more than 100 partner-operated stores across Asia, including a dedicated Roots storefront on Tmall in China. Its product portfolio spans women’s, men’s, children’s and gender-free apparel, as well as leather goods, footwear and accessories.

For Fall 2026, Roots is betting that its strongest heritage assets — comfort, Canadian identity, craftsmanship and the outdoors — can remain relevant by becoming more adaptable to modern lifestyles. The result is a collection that moves beyond traditional outdoorwear, positioning Roots across the broader space between city living, travel, campus culture and the outdoors.

The Fall 2026 collection is available now, with additional products arriving through September via Roots’ online and retail channels.
