TCF POST Desk

India’s cotton imports crossed 40 lakh bales between October 2025 and May 2026, and another 15 to 20 lakh bales are expected by the end of September, according to the Southern India Mills Association (SIMA).

SIMA’s Secretary General, K. Selvaraju, also noted that cotton prices are now dropping after reaching a record high of ₹75,000 per candy.

He added that the declining prices have led to a temporary slowdown in demand. “Everyone is waiting to see how far prices will fall, and the entire situation will become clearer in the next few weeks.”

According to SIMA, yarn exports from October 2025 to March 2026 were higher in volume compared to the same period the previous year. Meanwhile, fabric exports initially picked up before experiencing a subsequent slowdown.
