LOS ANGELES — Skechers, the Southern California-based footwear company known for combining comfort technology with lifestyle and performance products, has become the No. 2 footwear brand in the United States by units sold, strengthening its position in one of the world’s most competitive footwear markets.

The rise reflects Skechers’ broad consumer reach, affordable positioning and expanding presence across lifestyle, work, kids’ and technical performance footwear. The company has also gained traction through comfort-led innovations such as Hands Free Slip-ins®, while building a growing profile in running, golf, basketball, pickleball and soccer.

“For more than three decades, Skechers has created footwear for people from all walks of life, from families preparing for work and school to athletes competing on the world’s biggest stages,” said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers. “Our goal has always been to create innovative, comfortable products that meet consumers’ needs.”

Skechers’ portfolio spans casual, fashion, work and children’s footwear alongside performance collections. Its technology platform includes Cozy Fit®, Glide-Step®, Hyper Burst Pro™, Performance FitKnit®, Arch Fit®, Max Cushioning® and Air-Cooled Memory Foam®, reinforcing the brand’s strategy of competing through product technology as well as price and comfort.

The company has also intensified its marketing and sports positioning. Its roster of celebrities and elite athletes includes Sofia Vergara and athletes across major global sports. Recent high-profile moments have included OG Anunoby’s game-winning tip-in during the NBA Finals, Harry Kane’s record-setting performance for England at the 2026 World Cup, major championship victories by Matt Fitzpatrick and Brooke Henderson, Jackie Young’s third WNBA Championship and Skechers’ new partnership with the WNBA.

The sports push is designed to strengthen Skechers’ credibility beyond its traditional comfort positioning, while creating a broader brand halo across lifestyle and other footwear categories.

In the U.S., Skechers products are sold through more than 700 Skechers-branded stores, its own e-commerce operation and a wide network of retail partners. Its U.S. footprint includes high-traffic locations such as Times Square and the company’s performance-focused World of Sports experience in Miami.
