PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Performance footwear and apparel brand while on earth™ has unveiled The CMC, its newest and most explosive training shoe, developed in collaboration with co-founder and San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey.
The new trainer is designed for athletes who prioritize explosive movement, stability and versatility during demanding workouts. McCaffrey, who joined while on earth™ as a co-founder and investor in August 2025 following a longtime partnership with Nike, contributed his extensive training experience to the shoe’s development.
The CMC features an external heel counter for a secure, locked-in feel during explosive movements, an angled heel tab designed to reduce pressure on the Achilles, and a TPU mid-foot plate intended to minimize torsion during lateral movements. A fully integrated lining and plush foam sockliner provide cushioning and comfort, while the nylon upper is designed to balance durability and breathability.
Additional features include a rubberized toe cap for added protection, an anatomical last for a natural and secure fit, and a multi-directional rubber outsole designed to provide traction across a range of surfaces and movements. The shoe has a 10mm heel-to-toe drop and is available in both men’s and women’s sizing.
“From the early days of joining while on earth™, I knew I wanted to create a shoe that could keep up with how I train,” McCaffrey said. “The CMC offers the stability and control I need to train explosively, without sacrificing comfort and versatility beyond the gym.”
According to while on earth™ co-founder and CEO Todd Meleney, the shoe was developed around a straightforward objective: delivering stability and support without compromising comfort or versatility.
“The CMC had a clear design brief from the first meeting Christian and I had together: create the most stable and supportive training shoe on the market without sacrificing comfort and versatility,” Meleney said.
