NEW YORK — August 26, 2026-J.Crew has launched the Tiny Rollneck, a cropped, closer-fitting spin on its signature sweater, fronted by internet personality and style icon Emma Chamberlain.
A Shrunken Take on a Classic
The Tiny Rollneck takes the brand’s long-running Rollneck silhouette and scales it down — fitted, slightly cropped, and designed to sit closer to the body. It’s the third act in J.Crew’s ongoing effort to reinterpret the archival piece, following last fall’s “New Rollneck Generation” campaign and this spring’s “Rollneck Remix,” which brought in independent designers.
J.Crew’s Chief Marketing Officer Julia Collier framed the release as part of a broader philosophy: the brand treats its heritage pieces as a foundation to build on rather than something to preserve untouched. She described the new campaign as colorful and a bit unconventional, drawing on the aesthetic of the early internet era.
Emma Chamberlain’s Multiple “Characters”
Chamberlain, known for blending classic American sportswear with vintage and offbeat personal style, headlines the campaign. She said working with the brand felt like an obvious fit given her long history wearing J.Crew sweaters, and described the shoot as a chance to try on a different look — new wig, new sweater, different persona — nearly every hour.
Director Ian Markell shot the campaign in a candy-colored setting inspired by early-2000s internet and fashion media, incorporating lo-fi video, glitchy graphics, and character-select-style visuals rather than leaning on straightforward nostalgia. The project was built as a social-first campaign, designed to shift naturally across formats and platforms rather than being adapted after the fact.
Styling and Design
Styling came from Chamberlain’s longtime collaborator Jared Ellner, working alongside J.Crew Creative Director Olympia Gayot to highlight the range of the new silhouette. Gayot called the piece a distinct departure from the rest of the brand’s Rollneck lineup, positioning it as an edgier counterpart within the collection.
Availability
The Tiny Rollneck collection launches today in six solid colors and two stripe options, priced between $98 and $118. Select styles are in J.Crew stores nationwide, with the full range available on J.Crew.com.
