NEW YORK, Aug. 19– Maisonette, the curated children’s marketplace, launched a new platform Tuesday called Neon Rebels, aimed squarely at the 7-to-14 age bracket — a demographic the company says has long been overlooked by both kids’ and adult retail.
Apparel and Footwear at the Core
While the new marketplace spans several categories, apparel, footwear, and accessories form its backbone. The assortment is designed to sit in a stylistic middle ground — pieces that read as neither childish nor overly mature — giving older kids room to experiment with personal style while staying within limits parents are comfortable with.
The apparel lineup draws from nine brands, including Marlo, LoveShackFancy, DL1961, Pleat, Summer Loving, THEME, SOW Kids, STATE, and Jewelry Made By Me, covering everything from everyday basics to accessory pieces meant to let kids “find their people” through what they wear.
A headline addition is Montana Maple, a new tween-focused line from Marlo, launching as a Neon Rebels exclusive — the platform’s first brand debut of its kind.
Why Apparel Is the Strategic Anchor
Maisonette executives frame clothing as more than merchandise — it’s positioned as the primary tool for self-expression in the platform’s pitch. President AJ Nicholas pointed to tweens as one of the company’s fastest-growing segments, with more than 20% of its customer base now having at least one child seven or older, a gap the company says it built Neon Rebels specifically to close.
Co-founder Sylvana Ward Durrett described the aesthetic direction as an homage to the tactile, discovery-driv
