XTEP Debuts Twin Flagship Running Technologies, Signals Push Into “Full-Scenario” Running Market

TCF POST Report

Shanghai — August 22, 2026-Chinese sportswear group XTEP used a splashy Shanghai launch event on Friday to introduce two new proprietary running technologies, marking what the company calls a strategic shift from elite racing gear toward a broader lineup spanning competition, training and everyday wear.

Held under the banner “RUN TO X,” the event combined product reveals with field testing led by professional athletes, third-party technical validation, celebrity appearances and a runway-style presentation — a format that underscored XTEP’s ambition to position performance running as both a sport and a lifestyle category.

Two New Core Technologies

At the center of the launch were GT1200, a new carbon-plate platform aimed at elite racing, and XTEP FLOAT, a cushioning system the company describes as delivering a “zero-gravity” underfoot feel for everyday and training use.

Built on those two platforms, XTEP rolled out several new shoe lines, including:

  • The 160X 8.0 racing series, the latest generation of its flagship marathon shoe
  • The Airflow Zero series, aimed at cushioned, shock-absorbing daily runs
  • The 2000KM 5.5 Pro, positioned as a racing shoe for a broader running audience

Together, the new releases are meant to form a tiered product system running from elite competition footwear down to training shoes and mass-market daily runners — an attempt, executives suggested, to cover every stage of a runner’s development rather than just the professional tier.

A Decade of Track Record

XTEP has built its performance credentials over roughly ten years of investment in running shoe technology, with the 160X racing line in particular tied to a string of marathon results: the company says shoes from the series have been worn during four Chinese national marathon record performances over the past three years, and have topped the list of shoes worn by finishers at Chinese marathons for three consecutive years.

That track record has underpinned XTEP’s marketing positioning as a supplier trusted by China’s top marathoners chasing national and world records. With the new dual-flagship lineup, the company is now framing its ambitions more broadly — extending technology developed for elite competitors down to recreational and everyday runners, in a bid to compete more directly for the mass running-shoe market both domestically and, potentially, abroad.

Matter in China Market

The launch lands amid intensifying competition among Chinese sportswear brands — including Anta, Li-Ning and Xtep itself — to own the domestic running category, as marathon participation and running culture have grown rapidly across Chinese cities in recent years. By pairing a racing-grade carbon-plate shoe with a separate cushioning platform aimed at daily training and casual wear, XTEP appears to be betting that “full-scenario” coverage — rather than competing purely on elite performance credentials — will be the next battleground for market share in performance running footwear.
